The Marine Corps Combat Correspondents trace their history to the pioneering work started by Brigadier Gen. Robert L. Denig, Sr., who began Denig’s Demons in WWII. Never forgetting that they were riflemen first and writers, photograpers, et al, second, the CCs have gone from the highly trained professional newsmen of the 1940s to the dedicated trained specialists that followed. They have taken their rifles, notepads, and cameras everywhere that their fellow Marines have gone. In the process telling the stories of Marines in peace and war. From Iwo Jima and Korea to Vietnam and the Middle East, this story is told by the CCs in their words and pictures.

To compile a history of the writers, artists, photographers, broadcasters, telecasters, cinematographers and public relations personnel whose sole responsibility has been to bring to the attention of the public the activities of the United States Marine Corps in war and peace is a daunting task and one that can never cover all the areas of involvement of the Marines.  However, with the writings and photographs of the men and women who were there, this book will help the reader begin to retrace that journey with the Marines.
